Our People

A co-founder of SHIP, Robert Horton has been a volunteer and ardent supporter of SHIP since 2004. Robert is a home builder in Bryan, Texas, and has been married for 46 years to his wife, Ann. Robert and Ann have been to El Salvador over 60 times since 2004, working with the orphanage. They are members of Central Baptist Church in Bryan.

After volunteering with SHIP for many years, Jack Adams began serving on the Board in 2008. He is retired from a 23-year career in interstate commerce. He and his wife, Angie, have been married for 40 years and have four children and one granddaughter. They are members of Parkway Baptist Church in College Station, Texas, where he serves as a deacon. Jack and Angie have a deep love for children. In his spare time, Jack enjoys camping, studying history, and is a former private pilot.

Sara Horton has been active in SHIP’s ministry since her first trip to El Salvador in 2008. Sara received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University and has taught at Texas A&M University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Blinn College. She serves on the Board of Trustees for her church, New Beginnings, in Bryan, and she also is an active member of the Bryan-College Station Junior League where she has held leadership positions. Sara serves as SHIP’s director of development, and she also provides leadership for mission trips and other local activities.

Susan Lee has served as SHIP’s Administrative Director for more than five years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and worked for the University for 25 years before retiring to work for SHIP. Since 1990, she has been an active member of Central Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas, serving as the class coordinator for the Women of Faith Life Group for the past 21 years. Susan has one son, Jon, who is married to Laura; her favorite little humans are Olivia and David, who call her Grammy.

John Lawrence began volunteering with the SHIP ministry in 2008 and joined SHIP’s Board in 2011. John has a background in small business design, product development, production, marketing, sales, and service. He and his wife, Trisha, have been married 33 years and have one daughter. John enjoys gardening, building, reading, and studying God’s Word.
